Psidium guineense, commonly known as Brazilian guava or Guinea guava, is a small tropical fruit-bearing shrub or tree in the Myrtaceae family. Native to South and Central America, it thrives in warm climates and is often found in wild or semi-cultivated landscapes. The tree typically grows between 2 to 6 meters tall and produces small, round fruits that are yellow when ripe, with a soft, aromatic white or pinkish pulp.
The fruit has a sweet-tart flavor, similar to common guava but with a more citrusy edge. It can be eaten fresh or used in jams, jellies, juices, and desserts. Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, Psidium guineense is valued for its nutritional benefits as well as its traditional medicinal uses, including digestive and antimicrobial applications.
Though less commercially known than Psidium guajava, it remains an important wild fruit species in its native range and is gaining interest among tropical fruit enthusiasts.
Plant comes in a 14cm deep pot similar to the picture.
